What should I do when I lose a tooth?

Pick the tooth up by the crown (shining white part normally visible in the mouth) and avoid touching the root.

Rinse the root off under cold running water for approximately 10 seconds or lick the tooth clean as best you can.

Carefully put the tooth back in its original socket. Don’t worry if the tooth doesn’t fit perfectly – that’s okay.

Bite down on a piece of gauze or cotton wool to hold the tooth in place and go to the emergency dentist immediately.
